Understanding Error 400: Per-User Connection Limit Reached

Encountering Error 400 with the message "Your per-user connection limit reached" means that the number of active connections to Eweka's servers has exceeded the allowed limit. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Verify Newsreader Connection Settings

Check your newsreader settings to confirm that the number of connections does not exceed Eweka's maximum allowed limit. Using more than the permitted number of connections will trigger this error.

2. Check for Multiple Users

Confirm that your Eweka account is not being accessed from multiple devices simultaneously. If your credentials are in use on another device or by another person, the connection limit may be exceeded.

3. Assess Anti-Virus and Firewall Interference

Security software, including anti-virus programs and firewalls, can sometimes interfere with Usenet connections. Temporarily disable these tools and attempt to connect again to determine if they are causing the issue.

4. Adjust Newsleecher Settings

If you use Newsleecher, note that it attempts to reset inactive connections every 60 seconds. This setting may cause Eweka's servers to interpret these attempts as new connections, leading to the error. To modify this setting:

  • Open Newsleecher and go to 'Options' > 'Connections'.

  • Change the 'Reset hanging connections' setting to 120 seconds.

This adjustment can prevent unintentional connection limit errors.

By following these steps, you can resolve Error 400 and maintain a stable connection to Eweka's Usenet services.
